CONDENSER COILS

INTRODUCTION

Condenser Coils are made for heat rejection, such as the heat absorbed by an evaporator coil.  They typically operate under higher internal pressures.  Condenser coils are also sometimes used as part of a heat pump to provide heat in a specific location, but more often they are used to simply exhaust heat energy that is collected elsewhere.

PRESSURE/TEMPERATURE DESIGN

Sunco Condenser Coils made with 3/8" tubing are rated for up to 600 PSIG and 300°F.  While coils made from 1/2" or 5/8" tubing are rated for 300 PSIG and 300°F.

TYPICAL CONSTRUCTIONS

Most Sunco Chilled Water Coils are designed with either 1/2” or 5/8” O.D. tubes.  This is compared to other manufacturers that use 3/8” tubes.  Our larger tube design keeps the water pressure drop lower, those helping extend the life of the coil.

The most commonly used tube material is copper and we offer a variety of tube wall thickness options to handle different applications.

Aluminum is the most commonly used material for the fins since aluminum offers good heat transfer characteristics and lower costs.   But copper fins  may also be used, especially in coastal areas.

Coil casings/frames are typically galvanized steel, with stainless options available upon request.   Protective coatings are sometimes utilized in harsher atmospheres such as salt spray or chemical environments

And finally, coil connections are typically copper, brass, or steel.
